Petition Integrity
Status Update: Bot Attack Response
Starting on June 4, the petition was hit by a large wave of automated bot traffic. The attack lasted for roughly two days before it was fully identified. At first, the traffic looked like normal signing activity, but we later found invalid and suspicious inputs in the database.
After reviewing the data, we separated the suspicious bot activity from legitimate signatures, removed the invalid entries, and rebuilt the public counter from the cleaned database. The displayed number now reflects the cleaned petition data.
Suspicious inputs exposed the automated activity.
Invalid entries were removed from the count.
Anti-bot protections remain active.
While fighting the attack, the site had periods of instability. Some redeploys and emergency changes caused signing to be temporarily unavailable or slower than normal. We have since restored signing and kept anti-bot protections in place.
We will continue monitoring the petition and protecting the integrity of the count.
